Kazakh, US agriculture ministers discussed cooperation developmentMinister of Agriculture of Kazakhstan Akylbek Kurishbaev met with Minister of Agriculture of the USA Tom Vilsack and Governor of North Dakota State Jack Dalrymple.

It should be reminded that A. Kurishbaev visited the State of North Dakota on September 13-15 for taking part in the international agricultural exhibition ‘Big Iron Farm Show 2010’. The Minister was accompanies by Kazakh farmers, 25 people representing different sectors of agriculture and different regions.

The issue regarding further cooperation in the sphere of agriculture between the countries was discussed, the press service of the Ministry informs.

The cooperation between Kazakhstan and the USA is carried out within the Memorandum of Understanding between the Ministries of the two countries on cooperation in agriculture signed on September 28 of 2006 during the visit of the Head of our State to the USA. The Memorandum was prolonged for three more years till September 28, 2012.

Within this Memorandum the sides set priorities of interaction such as development of agricultural biotechnologies, contribution to improvement of sanitary and phytosanitary measures and regulations in the sphere of cattle breeding and crop raising in accordance with international standards, etc.
