Kazakhstan to increase the grain export potential

On August 3, 2010, Nursultan Nazarbaev, the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, declared that export potential of the country in 2010/11 MY totals 8 mln tonnes of grains.
The President issued directions to assume the measures for flour export share increase in the general volume of grains and by-products exports.
Previously, Anna Buts, the Director of the Department of development of land cultivation and phytosanitary security of the Ministry of Agriculture, declared that Kazakhstan grain export potential in 2010/11 MY will total nearly 6-7 mln tonnes.
In April, the Ministry of Agriculture estimated the country export potential for the current MY at the level of 12.5-13 mln tonnes.

Kazakhstan: 6 oblasts started the harvesting campaign

In the current year, the general grain harvest volumes in Kazakhstan will total nearly 14-15 mln tonnes, which will fully satisfy the domestic demands of the country, stated Akhylbek Kurishbaev, the Minister of Agriculture of the Republic of Kazakhstan, on August 3.
To date, taking into account winter and spring grain sowings, the general sowing areas totaled 16.7 mln ha. Almaty, Aktobe, Jambyl, West-Kazakhstan, Kyzylorda and South-Kazakhstan oblasts have already started the harvesting campaign. As of August 2, the country harvested grains throughout 450 thsd ha. The average yield in clean weight totaled 9.4 c/ha.
As of the end of July, 13.9 mln ha or 83.1% of grain sowings throughout the country faced rather good and satisfactory conditions. Due to droughts and hot weather, a part of grains sowing areas suffered in West-Kazakhstan and Aktobe oblasts.

Kazakhstan: 883 thsd ha of grains perished due to droughts

According to the announcement of Anna Buts, the Director of Agriculture and Phytosanitory Safety Department of the Ministry of Agriculture of Kazakhstan, as of July 31, 2010, 883 thsd ha of agricultural sowings perished in the country or 5% from the general sowing areas.
83% of the sowings in the country face good and satisfactory conditions, 12% of the sowings have the bad conditions, or 1.9 mln ha.
According to the Ministry of Agriculture, in 2010 the general sowing areas of agricultural crops totaled 21.5 mln ha, up 0.6% compared to the last year. At the same time, grain sowing areas occupy 16.7 mln ha, as opposed to 17.2 mln ha last year.
