NC KazMunaiGas could be planning to pay up to US$1.2bn for the Pavlodar refinery according to newswire reports this morning. The refinery has been part of MangistauMunaiGas, although it is to be separated from the upstream assets under the plan to sell them to NC KMG and CNPC, and is still owned by Central Asia Petroleum. The same source reported that the deal is expected to complete in summer 2009. No significant share impact for any listed companies is expected following the move.
