Turkey, Kazakhstan To Play Major Role In Reviving Silk RoadTurkey and Kazakhstan will play an important role in the establishment of a new Silk Road, which connects the West and the East, Turkey’s President Abdullah Gul told Kazakhstan’s parliamentarians on Wednesday.

“Turkey and Kazakhstan will be responsible for the development of new transport, communication and energy corridors, and other relevant development of a new Silk Road to connect Europe, Asia, the West and the East,” Russia’s Itar-Tass News Agency quoted him as saying.

The construction of the railroad Baku-Tbilisi-Kars is an important step towards the revival of the Silk Road, he said.

“As, together with Kazakhstan, we build this road to connect China and the Far East with European markets, we shall make an important step on the way to revive the historic Silk Road,” Gul said.

On the cooperation energy, he said the first supplies of Kazakhstan’s oil via the Baku-Tbilisi-Jeihan pipeline in November 2008 set an important transition period” in this sphere.

The transportation of Kazakhstan’s oil via the Samsun-Jeihan pipeline will be a “new stage” of this cooperation, Gul said.

We support all steps for successful completion of transition in Kyrgyzstan – Turkish President

Turkey backs all steps directed to successful completion of the transition in Kyrgyzstan.

President of Turkey Abdullah Gul has announced at a meeting with deputies of the Kazakh Parliament.

“We approve the measures taken by Kazakhstan as the OSCE chair country for completion of the April events in Kyrgyzstan which worried all of us without escalation”, Abdullah Gul said.

He noted that Turkey is ready to support all steps aimed at successful completion of the transition in Kyrgyzstan.

Abdullah Gul emphasized that providing assistance to the Kyrgyz people in overcoming this difficult period is a duty of, first of all, brotherly Turkic-speaking peoples.

Turkish President lays flowers to Monument to Mustafa Kemal Ataturk in Astana

President of Turkey Abdullah Gul has laid flowers to the Monument to Mustafa Kemal Ataturk today in Astana.

The Turkish leader was accompanied by Assistant to the Kazakh President Kairat Sarybai and Kazakh Minister of Tourism and Sport Temirkhan Dosmukhanbetov.

the Monument to Mustafa Kemal Ataturk is erected in Astana. The opening of the Monument was held in October, 2009, with participation of Head of the State Nursultan Nazarbayev.

President of Turkey Abdullah Gul and Kazakh Secretary of State-Minister of Foreign Affairs Kanat Saudabayev took part in an opening of a group of buildings of the Turkish Embassy in Kazakhstan.

“Earlier our Embassy was located in Almaty. When the Government moved to Astana, I held the post of Minister of Foreign Affairs and tried to solve the issue regarding construction of a new building of the Embassy in Astana. And now we open a new group of buildings of a new Embassy of Turkey in Kazakhstan”, Abdullah Gul said at the opening ceremony.

He also noted that, owing to the forward-looking solution of President N.Nazarbayev, the capital of Kazakhstan was moved from the south to the center of the country.
