Delegation of National People’s Congress of China visits Almaty

The Chinese delegation headed by Chairman of the Environment Protection and Resources Conservation Committee of the National People’s Congress Wang Guangtao is paying visit to Almaty on May 12-15; the press service of the Mayor’s Office reports.
Almaty Mayor Akhmetzhan Yessimov met with the delegation members who arrived in our country for development of bilateral cooperation in the field of ecology, construction, innovation policy and in the sphere of fight for peaceful disarmament.
Wang Guangtao told about development of the People’s Republic of China, situation in XUAR, in particular about successful economic development of the region and shared impressions on first days of staying in the largest city of Kazakhstan. The Congressman noted that Almaty is an economic center of the country and is of great interest for China. The guest emphasized that the Chinese Government and Communist Party consider relations with Kazakhstan as priority and the Chinese side is ready to make all efforts for bringing the friendly ties up to a new development level. “Fruitful cooperation promotes strengthening of peace, and I am ready to assist in development of friendly relations and mutually beneficial cooperation for harmonic development of our countries”, he said.
The Congressman expressed readiness to exchange experience with the Kazakh colleagues in the ecology sphere, emphasizing that environmental pollution is a common problem of all megacities of the world.
The Mayor thanked the guests for useful information and readiness for cooperation. He emphasized that stable development of the neighbor states, economic growth, peace are important for Kazakhstan and especially for Almaty. According to him, the Kazakh leadership does its best for maintenance of stable situation in the state and adheres to the principles of mutual understanding with the neighboring countries. There was noted experience of the Chinese authorities in struggle to save the environment and successful holding of the 2008 Olympiad taking into account that Almaty actively prepares for the Asian Games.
Akhmetzhan Yessimov emphasized that the Chinese large, small and joint enterprises are successfully operating in Almaty. And further development of bilateral cooperation is of great interest for the two countries’ business. Besides, the Customs Union of Kazakhstan, Russia and Belarus opens new opportunities for market development between the countries.
“In 2009 the foreign economic turnover between Almaty and the PRC made up USD 2.6 bln. But there are all premises for growth of the turnover volume in 2010. new productions give opportunity to open additional jobs and increase standard of living of our citizens. We will back any mutually beneficial cooperation”, A.Yessimov said.
