Kazakhstan's experience in combating corruption presented in European ParliamentChairman of Kazakh Agency for Combating Economic and Corruption Related Crimes (Financial Police) Kairat Kozhamzharov presented Kazakhstan’s experience in fighting corruption at the European Parliament’s session on Monday.

He noted that struggle against corruption was the main priority in Kazakhstan’s state policy. “Corruption is a serious challenge for any society. Thus the states should consolidate efforts on combating corruption in the Euro-Atlantic and Eurasian regions”, K. Kozhamkarov said.

Ambassador of Kazakhstan to Belgium, Luxembourg and Head of Kazakhstan’s Mission to the EU and NATO Yerik Utembayev emphasized that “corruption is a barrier to the development of constitutional processes and civil society. Rooting out corruption is a key to achieving high development standards and promotion of democratic values.”

On behalf of the deputies of the European Parliament Head of the EU Parliament Delegation to Central Asia and Mongolia Paolo Bartolozzi thanked the Kazakh side for the presentation. He noted that for the EU it was a good opportunity to study the issue before the inter-parliamentary meeting ‘EU-Kazakhstan’ planned for end of May.

The EU Parliament deputies, representatives of the diplomatic corps accredited in Belgium, NGOs and international experts attended the presentation.
