Bilateral coop prospects between Kazakhstan and European Investment Fund discussed in LuxembourgAmbassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Kazakhstan to Belgium, Luxembourg, Head of the Kazakh Mission to the European Union and NATO Yerik Utembayev has met with Chief Executive of the European Investment Fund Richard Pelly.

There were discussed prospects of bilateral cooperation between Kazakhstan and the European Investment Fund at the meeting.

Y.Utembayev paid attention to prospectivity of relations development of the European Investment Fund with Central Asian region, in particular with Kazakhstan. He informed of the financial and banking systems of the Republic of Kazakhstan, situation at the country’s stock market, activity and opportunities of SamrukKazyna National Welfare Fund, National Fund, venture capital funds, including those which were created jointly with Russia.

In the Kazakh diplomat’s opinion, the European Investment Fund and Kazakhstan have potential for mutually beneficial cooperation in implementation of projects directed for development of small and medium business through introduction of innovations and advanced technologies in Kazakhstan as well as in the eurozone.

Chief Executive of the European Investment Fund expressed interest in study and determination of a spectrum of bilateral interaction directions and pointed out importance of attraction of the Kazakh economy’s private sector.

Richard Pelly highly appraises Kazakhstan’s active work with the European Investment Bank (EIB) on conclusion of the Framework Agreement between Kazakhstan and the EIB on the Bank’s activity in Kazakhstan.

He paid special attention to opportunities of cooperation with Kazakhstan in the field of microfinancing taking into account activity of the domestic funds in implementation of energy and transport infrastructural projects in the context of the tasks of the European Investment Fund in development of transit-transport networks and small and medium business support with high standards and use of advanced technologies.

The sides noted high potential of SamrukKazyna National Welfare Fund for participation in those directions.

Ambassador Y.Utembayev noted that strategic partnership with the European Investment Bank taking into account new opportunities of the European Investment Fund will create a platform for new investment cooperation between Kazakhstan and the EU, and will open horizons of interaction on new prospective directions within the framework of implementation of Kazakhstan’s Strategy 2020 and EU Strategy 2020.
