ArcelorMittal’s coal miners stage sit-in at four mines in Kazakhstan
ASTANA, Dec 11 (Reuters) – About 200 coal miners refused to leave four mines after the end of their shift and staged an apparent sit-in at mines operated by ArcelorMittal’s unit in Kazakhstan, the company said on Monday.
Miners have not announced any demands to ArccelorMittal, which operates a total of eight coal mines in Kazakhstan, the company said in a statement. It said the remaining mines were working normally.
It also did not say whether the apparent strike could affect its steel output. (Reporting by Raushan Nurshayeva; Writing by Olzhas Auyezov; Editing by Andrey Ostroukh)
