Rick Perry Cancels Visit To Kazakhstan Due To Hurricane Harvey
Energy Secretary Rick Perry cancelled his visit to Kazakhstan on Monday because of Hurricane Harvey, which hit the southeastern coast of Texas on Friday and Saturday, and caused catastrophic flooding in the Houston area.
“Due to Hurricane Harvey and the Department of Energy’s duty to react to emergencies related to power supply and energy infrastructure, the planned visit by Energy Secretary Rick Perry to Astana is canceled,” the U.S. Embassy in Kazakhstan said, according to Reuters.
Instead of Perry, Deputy Secretary Dan Brouillette will lead the U.S. delegation, and attend the EXPO International Fair on “Future Energy.”
During his trip to Kazakhstan, Perry was scheduled to meet with Kazakh Energy Minister Kanat Bozumbayev.
