25% Of Kazakh Oil Is Produced By Chinese Companies

Kazakhstan Overtakes Iraq as OPEC Pact's Biggest Over-Producer

ASTANA – Chinese oil companies intend to extend oil and gas contracts with Kazakhstan, the country’s President Nursultan Nazarbayev said during talks with Chinese President Xi Jinping in Akorda.

Xi arrived in Astana where he was expected to participate in the SCO Summit and Opening Ceremony of EXPO-2017 on June 8.

“We discussed energy cooperation; 25% of Kazakh oil is produced by Chinese companies. Now they [the Chinese side] are offering a question on the extension of contracts. We will study very carefully, because we are good partners in joint work,” the Kazakh President said during the narrow format talks in Akorda.

“During these years, when we work together, more than 100 million tons of oil was delivered through Kazakhstan, as well as over 180 billion cubic meters of gas,” he added.
