Kazakhstan, UK Sign Memorandum On Pharmacontrol
The Kazakh National Center for Expertise of Medicines, Medical Devices and Medical Equipment of the Ministry of Health of Kazakhstan and the Medicines and Health Products Regulation Agency (MHRA) of the UK signed a memorandum of cooperation, the Kazakh health ministry said.
The purpose of the memorandum is strengthening of regulatory bodies of both countries and assistance of the process of creating harmonized pharmacopoeia of Kazakhstan. The document assumes a significant expansion of the field of pharmacopeia harmonization, the provision of scientific and technical assistance and support, as well as participation in activities of a scientific and practical nature (conferences, seminars, meetings, etc.), strategy2050.kz reported.
Interaction of the parties allows participation of representatives of each side as observers or advisers in the composition of scientific and expert commissions or working groups.
The British pharmacopoeia is widely used in the world as one of the authoritative and reliable quality standards of medicines for use in medicine and veterinary science. By Order of the Pharmacy Committee of the Ministry of Health of Kazakhstan of February 11, 2004, British Pharmacopoeia was officially recognized in Kazakhstan (along with the European Pharmacopoeia and the US Pharmacopeia).
