Leroy Merlin Looks For Local Suppliers In Kazakhstan

Leroy Merlin Russia have now confirmed that the French chain of DIY stores is expanding into Kazakhstan.

As reported by the Astana Times, this is what Marc Luscher, assistant CEO of Leroy Merlin Russia, had to say at a conference: “The Leroy Merlin chain of DIY stores is actively developing in Russia at the moment and we see great potential in Kazakhstan.

We are currently concentrating on looking for partners who we can cooperate with. It is very important for us to include products from domestic manufacturers in the store’s assortment and to create beneficial conditions for the development of local providers.”

The first DIY store in the chain is to be built in Almaty for 31 mio US dollars and opened in 2018. It will present 35 000 articles over 17 500 m².

The report states that 350 new jobs are to be created. In 2020 two more branches are to be opening their doors in the Almaty area.
