Kazakhmys Increases Copper Production To 230k Tons
Kazakhmys Corporation JSC (KZMS) produced 225,657 tons of copper cathode equivalent, the company said in a message March 2.
“Kazakhmys” has summed up its operating results for 2016. In 2017, the corporation plans to produce 232.6 thousand tons of copper in a cathode equivalent, the company reported.
During 2016 the corporation produced 225.657 thousand tons of copper in a cathode equivalent. This figure exceeded the similar period of 2015 by 5.4 thousand tons (+ 2.5%). Thus, the average copper grade was 0.95% for the year that higher than the average copper content in 2015 (0.91%) and higher than the planned by 1.1%.
“At the end of 2016 metals market showed a positive trend. I hope that in 2017 it will retain the existing trend to increase, and we can confidently implement the projects on exploration and expansion of the mineral resource base, introduce hydrometallurgy and equip enterprises with new equipment. I want to emphasize that the main task for us is still the improvement of working conditions and reduce the number of accidents at work”, Chairman of the Board of “Corporation “Kazakhmys” Bakhtiyar Krykpyshev said.
It is worth noting that in 2016 the concentrators of “Kazakhmys” processed 29.8 million tons of ore.
