Ex-deputy Chairman Of Kazakhstan Engineering Arrested
Former deputy chairman of the Kazakhstan Engineering company, Kanat Sultanbekov, has been arrested, the press service of the Astana court said Thursday.
“Kanat Sultanbekov has been taken into custody for two months until 16 April 2017. The decision was taken by the Esil district court number 2 on February 18,” the statement said without mentioning the charges against Sultanbekov.
Sultanbekov is the former deputy mayor of Almaty. He has also served as the deputy mayor of Astana from 2009 to 2014.
Sultanbekov was detained on February 22 in Astana.
Kazakhstan Engineering is a defense giant established by the Kazakhstan government to unite country’s state owned defense industry companies. The company belongs to the Samruk-Kazyna National Welfare Fund.
