Kazakhstan: Chinese Companies To Work At Khorgos Free Trade Zone
National Company Kazakhstan Temir Zholy (KTZ) signed an agreement with ChinaCoscoShipping and Lianyungang Port Group Ltd. on cooperation in SEZ Khorgos-Eastern Gateway project, reports KazWorld.info with reference to Press-office of JSC “NC “Kazakhstan Temir Zholy” .
17 February 2017 the delegation of JSC “NC “Kazakhstan Temir Zholy” held talks with the representatives of the companies “China Cosco Shipping” and LLC “GK Lianyungang Port” on joint implementation of projects of SEZ Khorgos – Eastern Gateway” in Shanghai, China.
During negotiations was reached agreement on cooperation with leading Chinese companies on development of the joint venture, a participant of SEZ “Khorgos – Eastern Gateway”. According to the signed Protocol, “China Cosco Shipping” and LLC “GK Lianyungang Port” will invest to the joint venture until 1 June 2017.
These activities are implemented within execution of President’s instructions on attracting large foreign investors and multinational companies to the development of key infrastructure projects. The project of development of SEZ “Khorgos – Eastern Gateway” is key conjugation of state programs “Nurly Zhol” and China “One Belt and One Road”.
“China Cosco Shipping” is the world’s largest cargo ship owner with a fleet of over 1,100 vessels (total deadweight of more than 85 million tons.) and ranked fourth in the world in terms of transport containers.
The participation of companies “China Cosco Shipping” and “GK Lianyungang Port” will ensure the integration of SEZ “Khorgos – Eastern Gateway” in global transport and logistics flows on routes between Asia and Europe and give impetus to attracting new transit volumes.
