Universiade-2017: Denis Ten First In Short Program, Kazakhstan Overwhelmed Czech Republic In Hockey
Results of the figure skating short program at Universiade-2017 were reported by Sports.kz.
Kazakhstani citizen Denis Ten was the best in this with 94.91 points. Japanese the Keiji Tanaka was second – 89.05 points. The last in the Top three is Russian Artur Dmitriev – 87.18 point.
Being an ethnic Korean born in Kazakhstan, Ten also has a huge following in East Asia and numerous fan clubs across South Korea and Japan.
Among his major triumphs are: gold at the 2011 Asian Winter Games, gold at the 2015 Four Continents Championships, bronze at the 2015 World Championships in Shanghai and in London in 2013.
In December Kazakhstan’s top figure skater and Sochi 2014 Winter Olympics bronze medallist Denis Ten spotted himself Dec. 16 in the famous Japanese anime series “Yuri on Ice” while visiting the country of the rising sun.
Another Kazakh skater Abzal Rakimgaliev also qualified after the program with 68.25 points.
Kazakh and Czech hockey teams met today in Almaty during the Winter Universiade 2017, Sports.kz reported.
The Kazakh team overwhelmed their opponents with 8 pucks (Konstantin Savenkov (double), Artyom Burdelev (double), Dmitry Grents, Nikita Mikhailis, Anton Petrov and Kirill Savitskiy).
Earlier, Kazakhstan defeated China (22:0) and Sweden (5:0).
