Astana And Tashkent Working On 10-year Cooperation Plan
Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan are working on cooperation roadmap for the next ten years, says Ambassador of Kazakhstan to Uzbekistan Erik Utembayev.
The diplomat says that both sides recognize reciprocal aspiration to develop both political and trade relations.
In political sphere two countries intend to work on countering stability and security threats in Central Asia, in particular they intend to contribute to restoration efforts in Afghanistan.
With regard to trade relations, presidents Nursultan Nazarbayev and Shavkat Mirziyoyev agreed to achieve growth in trade between two countries up to 5 bln dollars a year.
Also, “Main directions of trade cooperation between Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan” agreement was signed back in September following the visit of Deputy Prime Minister of Kazakhstan Askar Mamin to Uzbekistan. Within the framework of this agreement two countries plan to create a chain of joint supermarkets, to set cooperation between financial institutions, to construct a mechanism for interregional cooperation, and to set semi knocked down assembly of cars, buses and agricultural equipment made in both countries.
Trade between two countries totaled $1.548 billion according to data from Federal Public Statistics Service of Uzbekistan. Kazakhstan comes in third, after China and Russia, among main trade partners for Uzbekistan. Main export good from Uzbekistan to Kazakhstan are natural gas, fruits and vegetables, and foodstuffs. Main export goods from Kazakhstan to Uzbekistan are crops, ferrous and nonferrous metals, flour.
