Energy Producers Owe More Than 10bn Tenge To Fuel Oil And Coal Suppliers

Kazatomprom plans to produce 23 000 tons of uranium in 2018

Energy ministry insists on debt repayment to prevent fuel supply disruption.

At the government meeting, the Energy Minister Kanat Bozumbayev said that in just 1.5 months of the heating season, energy producing organizations owe more than 10bn tenge to coal and fuel oil suppliers, Kazpravda.kz reports.

“Arrears of energy producing organizations to the KazTransGas Aimak company in 1.5 month of the heating season are already 9.3 billion tenge. MAEC-Kazatomprom has the biggest debt- 5.3bn; Energoortalyk Shymkent – 1.5 billion; Almatyteplokommunenergo – 839 mn, Zhayykteploenergo – 680mn; Kyzylordateploelektrotsentr – 614mn tenge, – said the Minister.

At the same time the energy producers’ debt to the coal suppliers Bogatyr Coal for the same period is 877 million tenge. The primary debtors are Ekibastuz GRES-2, Pavlodarenergo and Astana-Energy.

“To prevent the fuel supply disruption, we ask the governorates of Mangistau, Kyzylorda, Aktobe, Pavlodar, South-Kazakhstan, West Kazakhstan, North Kazakhstan regions to have the debts repaid “, – the Minister appealed to the PM.
