First Deputy Minister of Energy appointed in Kazakhstan

Mahambet Dosmukhambetov has been appointed the first deputy minister of energy of Kazakhstan, the Energy Ministry said.

Energy Minister Kanat Bozumbayev introduced First Deputy Minister of Energy Mahambet Dosmukhambetov to the incumbent staff.

Mahambet Dosmukhambetov graduated from the Gubkin Moscow Institute of Petrochemical and Gas Industry, qualified in geology and exploration of oil and gas fields, also Kazakh State University of Law.

In different years he was the director of the oil and gas fields development and geology department of KazakhOil company, and recently served as General Director (Chairman of the Board) of JSC EMG, managing director for geology – chief geologist, deputy chairman of the board on major projects and senior vice president of major non-operating assets and offshore projects of JSC NC KazMunayGas.

Born on December 25, 1960 in Guryev city. In 1983 he graduated from Moscow Institute of Petrochemical and Gas Industry named after Gubkin I.M. in “Geology and exploration of oil and gas fields”, qualification – engineer-geologist.

He began his career in 1983 in the position of a geologist, and then he worked as a senior geologist in Central Dispatch Office, as chief geologist of expedition of Balykshy Exploratory Drilling Association “Embaneft”.

In the period from 1989 to 1991 he was Head of the Geological Department, Chief Geologist of Oil and Gas Production Division of Embaneft PA, from 1991 to 1994 he worked as chief geologist at Munai JV.

From 1994 to 1996 he served as chief geologist and director at Kyrykmyltyk production field of ANAKO JSC.

In 1997 as head of the geological department at Embamunaigas JSC.

From 1997 to 2002 he was General Geology Manager of the Department of Oil and Gas Production and Transportation, Director of the Department of Oil and Gas Development and Geology, Director of the Department of Resource Base Development and Protection of Mineral Resources in “NOC KazakhOil CJSC.

In the period from 2002 to 2004 he worked as Director of the Geology and Development Department, Deputy Director of the Department of Operating Contracts Monitoring, Deputy Director of the Share Management Department in JV CJSC “NC “KazMunayGas”.

In 2004 he was appointed as Director of the Geology and Development Department in JSC “KazMunayGas Exploration Production” where he worked till 2006.

From 2006 to 2009 he served as Deputy General Director of LLP “JV “KazGerMunai”, in 2009-2013 Deputy Director General for Geology and Development, First Deputy General Director (Member of the Board) of JSC “Mangistaumunaigas”.

From 2013 to 2015 he held the position of the Director General (Chairman of the Management Board) of Embamunaigas JSC.

Recently, he served as Deputy Chairman of the Management Board for Major Projects in JSC NC “KazMunayGas” with combined duties of Chairman at TCO partnership, Chairman of the Supervisory Board at KMG Karachaganak LLP, Managing Director of the Board of Directors at KMG Kashagan B.V.

He is a discoverer of the Makat Vostochny deposit in Atyrau region in 1997.

He has a title of a “High Achiever of Exploration Survey of the Republic of Kazakhstan” (2003), “Honored prospector of the Republic of Kazakhstan” (2005). He is a co-author of 5 articles and publications.

He was awarded with the medal “Қазақстан Республикасының тәуелсіздігіне 10 жыл”, Certificates of Merits from the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources of the Republic of Kazakhstan, KAZENERGY Association, Akim of Mangistau oblast, JSC “NC “KazMunayGas”, Anniversary badge to commemorate the 50-th anniversary of Mangistau oil”, a medal from KAZENERGY Association, he also was awarded with letters of appreciation from the Ministry of Oil and Gas of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Prime Minister of the Republic of Kazakhstan, JSC “KazMunayGas Exploration Production”.
