Kazakhstan To Accommodate Guests Of EXPO 2017 In Yurts

Fair Of Kazakh Crafts Will Be Held During Universiade-2017

City officials are discussing the problem of accommodation of EXPO 2017 guests in Astana. One of the options is to accommodate them in the capital’s university dormitories.

“The representative of Astana EXPO-2017 came to me. The question was the accommodation of five million people in May next year. We, rectors, have to provide places for guests of the exhibition somewhere to stay”, – said rector of the Kazakh national University of Arts Aiman Musakhodzhayeva at a meeting of the public council at the capital akimat.

She added that general fund of student dormitories has only five thousand places. According to her, a campus had to be built in Astana. But the money for its construction were not allocated.

“Of course, we will expel students. But we can’t solve the problem of five million places by five thousand ones”, – added the rector of the Kazakh national University of Arts.

Deputy akim of Astana Ermek Amanshaev confirmed the problem of accommodation of EXPO international exhibition visitors.

Some members of the public council offered to place the exhibition visitors not in a tent camp, but in Kazakhstani yurts. “Look: yurt is easily taken apart, it is warm and cool. It could become our feature”, – suggested a member of the public council at Astana akimat Nikolai Meshcheryakov.

The yurt is one of the most sensible movable house. It is a comfortable and practical home, ideally suited to the local conditions and way of life – one of the greatest inventions of Eurasian nomads.
