Kazakhstan Dissatisfied With High Cost Of Internet Transit Through Kyrgyzstan
KazWorld.info – Kazakhtelecom unreasonably increased Internet traffic tariffs for Kyrgyzstan 3 times. The parties agreed on a fair pricing. However, the Kazakh side has refused to comply with the agreement.
Kazakhstan is dissatisfied with the high cost of Internet transit through Kyrgyzstan, the director of the State Agency of Anti-monopoly Regulation Bolsunbek Kazakov said today at a press conference.
According to him, each side has its claims. Kyrgyzstan is outraged at unjustified increase of tariffs for the Internet, and Kazakhstan – a high price of the transit through the Kyrgyz Republic.
“But we were able to find understanding, so tariffs decreased,” Bolsunbek Kazakov said.
Internet service providers in Kyrgyzstan believe that Kazakhstan’s transit operators entered into a price collusion against Kyrgyz partners.
Despite the fact that Kyrgyzstan has managed to reach an agreement with Kazakhstan on reduction of tariffs for Internet, the republic continues to consider alternative variants with China.
However, the official refused to answer the question whether Kyrgyzstan will lower prices for transit. “This is a commercial secret. Each company sets its price for transit. So far, no one reduces it,” he added.
