By 2020, Kazakhstan To Produce 65 Bln Cubic Meters Of Gas Per Year
Gas production in Kazakhstan in 2020 will be 65 billion cubic meters a year, KazWorld.info reports.
This was announced at the forum “Future Energy” in Astana by Energy Minister Kanat Bozumbayev.
He noted that the development of gas chemical sector is one of the priority directions of development of domestic energy.
According to forecasts, the volume of gas production by 2020 will reach 65 billion cubic meters per year, whereas this year the production volume is 43 billion cubic meters. This will help increase the export of gas, and make its greater use in the domestic market, including developing gas generation instead of coal,” – he said.
According to the minister, it will also help Kazakhstan’s energy system to significantly reduce the burden on the environment, including reducing the amount of harmful emissions.
Energy Minister also spoke about the plans of the Ministry for development of renewable energy sources. He believes that by 2030, our country will actively introduce an increasing number of such sources.
Kanat Bozumbayev said that in the near future the extensive research in this area will be carried out.
“We plan to hold a large-scale study “Foresight 2050 – a new world of energy and Kazakhstan’s place in it” with the involvement of local and international experts- futurists. The study will answer questions related to transformation of the republic’s energy policy”, – he said.
The Minister promised that the results of these studies will be presented at the opening of the exhibition “EXPO 2017”.
