Kazakhmys Was Fined KZT 109 mln
The violations of environmental legislation was found during the audit checking.
Specialized environmental Prosecutor of Karaganda region recovered in state revenue from the Corporation “Kazakhmys” more than 109 million tenge. It is reported by Interfax-Kazakhstan with reference to information of the regional Prosecutor’s office.
During the check of the Corporation in complying with environmental legislation of Kazakhstan prosecutors revealed violations of environmental legislation, expressed in the conduct of extraction and processing of limestone in the field of Sary-Kum in 2014-2015 without provided permission for emission into the environment.
As indicated in the message, the damage to the environment unauthorized air emissions during extraction and processing of limestone in the deposits of enterprises amounted to more than 79 million tenge.
“At the same time measures of prosecutorial response provided payment by the company provided for the above violation of the sums of tax payments of more than $ 17 million tenge, and imposed administrative fines of more than 12 million tenge”, – stated in the message.
Corporation “Kazakhmys” – the leading company in the extraction and processing of natural resources, the largest copper producer in Kazakhstan. The company has ten mines, five ore-concentrators, two copper smelting plants, two coal mines. Kazakhmys manages manufacturing facilities, leading ore mining and processing through to finished metal. The Corporation has domestic power plants, which provide a unit of electricity and carry out its sale to third parties.
