Astana "International Financial Centre (AIFC) and QFC Signed A Memorandum Of CooperationToday, the delegation of Qatar led by the chairman of the Central Bank, Sheikh Abdullah bin Saud Al-Thani, visited Astana “International Financial Centre (AIFC). Governor of AIFC Kairat Kelimbetov told about the main directions of the financial center and the future prospects of mutual cooperation, reports.

During the meeting, governor of AIFC Kairat Kelimbetov and Mr Ryan, the Chief Executive Officer of the QFC Regulatory Authority signed a Memorandum of Understanding and Cooperation.

The memorandum envisages the exchange of information on the regulation of financial markets for Islamic finance. Islamic finance is one of the main strategic directions of AIFC development. Qatar is known as one of the centers of Islamic finance, and, corresponding to the development of Islamic banking in Kazakhstan caused wide interest from foreign delegations.

According to K. Kelimbetov, AIFC plans to become a Eurasian center for Islamic finance, and therefore the introduction of special legal and regulatory basics is very important in accordance the principles of Islamic finance.
