Kazakhstan PM Karim Massimov Examined Copper-smelting Production In Zhezkazgan
During a working trip to the Karaganda region the Prime minister of Kazakhstan has estimated the potential of development of a metallurgical complex of the region.
On the platform of the shop of electrolysis of copper the chairman of the board of Kazakhmys Corporation LLP Bakhtiar Krykpyshev has told the Prime minister about work of structural divisions of the company and the prospects of nonferrous metallurgy in the world market and in the country.
Last year divisions of corporation including the Zhezkazgan copper-smelting plant, about 223,000 tons of cathodic copper have released that has exceeded planned targets for 3%. Despite difficulties in world economy, decrease in demand and copper prices, the enterprises of group intend to hold production of copper at the level of 2014-2015.
For the first half of 2016 divisions of corporation have produced 111,000 tons of cathodic copper that is 8% more, than it has been received in the same period of last year.
In 2014 the plant has carried out large-scale reconstruction. Throughout modernization the plant is implemented the project on transition to the innovative production technologies allowing to extract copper from poor ores (raw materials with the low content of metal). A possibility of processing of ore with the low content of metal – very important direction for Kazakhstan as new technologies will allow to use the off-balance ores which have accumulated on mines.
