Kazakhstan’s share in public procurements increases – S.Akhmetov

The new law on public procurements elaborated by Kazakhstan’s Government gave local businesses a priority right in making orders among domestic companies and public bodies, Prime Minster Serik Akhmetov announced at the National Business Forum-2009 in Almaty.

According to Akhmetov, such a measure allowed to keep production rates while reducing consumer demand. Besides, according to him, the share of Kazakhstan’s participation in procurements by subsoil users and national companies is increasing.

“At present over 1,300 memorandum to the amount of more than KZT 1 trln have been signed. About 10,000 contracts to the amount of KZT 400 bln have been concluded as part of these documents”, the Vice Prime Minister added.

Necessary to form new concept of small and medium business development – Akhmetov

“Due to resetting of the economy towards the forced industrialization the issue of a new concept for small and medium business development came up”, Kazakh Vice Premier Serik Akhmetov has said at the National Business Forum-2009 spring in Almaty today.

The previous program on small and medium business development was completed in 2008. S. Akmetov suggested the National Business Forum and all associations joining the process of formation of the new concept. “We should prepare new approaches in the format of relations between the state and business as well as prospects of development of Kazakhstan’s entrepreneurship”, he said.

“It is necessary to create an action group that could submit definite proposals for consideration of the Kazakh Government”, Mr. Akhmetov addressed the business community.

Kazakh chemical industry to assist to agro-industrial complex

Production of qualitative mineral fertilizers for the agricultural sector in sufficiency in Kazakhstan will be one of the results of forced development of the country’s chemical industry that was qualified by the President as one of priority directions of advanced industrialization of the economy alongside with other sectors.

Totally 18 projects to the amount of KZT 1 160.4 bln are planned to realize in the chemical industry. This will create 5 156 jobs. Total amount of investments to the sector from 2009 by 2015 will be up to USD 9 bln. In order to provide operative and rational development of the chemical industry the Kazakh Government approved the Action Plan of development of the chemical industry in Kazakhstan for 2009-2015 that includes information about necessary measures of the sector’s development.

Nine projects of six companies-applicants – “Kazfosfat” LTD, “KazAzot” LTD, “Kaustik” LTD, “Kazakhstan Mineral Resources” Mining Company” LTD and “EuroHim” LTD – are ready for implementation.

Kazakh Prime Minister Karim Massimov charged Kazakh Minister of Economy and Budget Planning Bakhyt Sultanov and Kazakh Minister of Industry and Trade Asset Issekeshev to speed up the work on development of the Production Capacities Allocation Map.
