Kazakh-Korean Forum held in AlmatyThe Kazakh-Korean investment forum is being held in Almaty.

Over 300 representatives of the social-entrepreneurial corporations, national companies, state bodies, organizations of Kazakhstan and about 50 companies from Korea take part in the “Business-Caravan” Forum.

“We face a real goal at this forum – conclusion of agreements on creation of joint Kazakh-Korean enterprises, on use and development of economic potential, holding joint business”, Chairman of the “Atameken” Union” National Economic Chamber Azat Peruashev noted.

There will be held conferences on the next sections within the event: construction, energy, chemical, food and light industry, medicine, engineering, services sphere, trade, tourism and mass media.

Organizers are “Atameken” Union” National Economic Chamber and «JoongAng Media Network» media holding («Jmnet»).

It is aimed at strengthening the Kazakh-Korean relations, trade-economic cooperation and interaction between entrepreneurs of the two countries, attraction of investments into business projects.

The Forum will prolong till November 26.

Kazakh-Korean trade turnover decreased by 80% compared to 2007: A.Peruashev

“The trade turnover between Kazakhstan and Korea decreased by 80% compared to the last year. During January-March, 2009 the trade turnover between our countries amounted to USD 90 mln”, Chairman of the National Economic Chamber of Kazakhstan “Atameken Union” Azat Peruashev has said today at the Kazakh-Korean Investment Forum in Almaty.

There are several reasons of reduction connected with the world economic crisis.

“In accordance with the data of 2008, the trade turnover between Kazakhstan and Korea amounted to USD 754 mln, the growth was up to 12% compared to 2007. The volume of export was up to USD 330 mln, import – USD 423 mln. The export increased by 52% last year, and the import decreased”, A.Peruashev noted.

According to him, the main articles of the Kazakh export to Korea are raw materials – uranium, ferro-alloys, rolled metal products and base metals. Higher-value-added products prevail in the export.

“These facts witness that we successfully attract Korean capital to our country. the current task is to develop trade between two countries as well as use rich natural resources of Kazakhstan and Korean technologies and investments for establishment of joint enterprises”, A.Peruashev said.

Coop with “Arna Media” important for us: Kim Su-Gil

“Cooperation with mass media of the Central Asian countries and especially with Kazakhstan and “Arna Media” Holding is very important for us”, Vice President of “JoongAng Media Network” Holding (JMNet) Kim Su-Gil has said today at the meeting with heads of mass media – members of “Arna Media” National Informational Holding” JSC held in Almaty within the Kazakh-Korean Investment Forum.

Kim Su-Gil noted that the leadership of the Korean Holding is ready to receive Kazakh specialists for trainings. “We will present our know-how to them with pleasure and introduce them to representatives of television companies that work with satellite networks, he said.

Kim Su-Gil paid special attention to the idea of making Kazakh-Korean serial as well. “This is very interesting idea, but we should prepare for it. We are ready to invite our specialists, think over all details and discuss this issue with you”, the Vice President said.
