Rominserv Kazakhstan, a subsidiary of Rompetrol, has won the contract to rebuild the vacuum-distillation unit at Atyrau Oil Refinery in Kazakhstan.
Rominserv is the general contractor for Rompetrol projects. Rominserv was declared the winner in the tender in which 17 Kazakh and foreign companies bid.
“The modernization work is scheduled for completion at the end of next year. The contract is worth more than $27 million,” the statement says.
The project is one element in the program for modernizing the Atyrau refinery, which is aimed at boosting capacity to 5 million tonnes a year from 3.5 million tonnes, and to raising the quality of output to international standards.
The vacuum-distillation unit is used in production of gasoline, diesel fuel and gas via the atmospheric and vacuum distillation of crude oil.
National oil and gas company KazMunayGas became the 100% owner of Rompetrol Group NV in June 2009, after purchasing the remaining 25% of shares held by Rompetrol Holding SA.
Trade House KazMunayGas owns 99.21% of shares in Atyrau Oil Refinery. The Samruk-Kazyna national welfare fund owns 100% of KazMunayGas.
