Prospects for further development of civil society discussed in Almaty

The Fund of the First Kazakh President together with the Institute of the world economy and policy under the Fund of the First Kazakh President have held international scientific-practical conference “Civil society in Kazakhstan: state and prospects” today in Almaty.
Leading experts of scientific-research and analytical structures, politicians and diplomats of five Central Asian countries, Russia, the USA, the EU and representatives of the OSCE, UNDP and foreign diplomatic corps in Kazakhstan took part in the conference.
The main purpose of the conference is complex and constructive discussion of the state and prospects for development of the civil society in Kazakhstan, areas of common interest and probable directions of cooperation of the Government and the civil sector, adaption of the international experience. Analysis of the main directions and adaptive mechanisms for mutually beneficial practical cooperation between NGO of the CIS member states, East and West Europe within the Kazakhstan’s OSCE chairmanship in 2010 was made at the conference.
According to CEO of the Fund of the First Kazakh President Bektas Mukhamedzhanov, the law on state social procurement, adopted in the first years of independence, witnesses the special attitude to the institutions of the civil society of the country. “Funds allocated within the social procurement are increased annually; concept of the civil society development for 2006-2011 was adopted. And the realization of the concept, current problems and prospects for the further development of the civil society is the main subject of today’s discussion”, the Head of the Fund said.
