Kazakhstan intends to extradite criminals to Romania and Bulgaria

Kazakhstan intends to extradite criminals to Romania and BulgariaMajilis deputies ratified the treaty with Bulgaria and Romania for extradition of persons wanted for criminal prosecution or for the sentence of the court, Kazpravda.kz reports.

Kazakhstan Majilis approved the bill “On ratification of the Agreement between the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Republic of Bulgaria on extradition of persons”, “On Ratification of the Agreement between the Republic of Kazakhstan and Romania on extradition of persons ” and “On ratification of the Agreement between the Republic of Kazakhstan and Romania on extradition of sentenced persons.”

Majilis deputies ratified the treaty with Bulgaria and Romania for extradition of persons wanted for criminal prosecution or for the sentence of the court, Kazpravda.kz reports.

“The ratification of the Treaty will enable us to extradite persons who have committed crimes in our territory to Bulgaria,” – said Deputy Prosecutor General of Kazakhstan Johann Merkel at the plenary session of the Majilis.

A similar agreement on extradition was signed with Romania in November 2014. Today at the plenary session the deputies have ratified the document, and approved the draft law “On ratification of the agreement between Kazakhstan and Romania on extradition of sentenced persons.”

To date, according to Merkel, such treaties on extradition of persons are concluded with 12 countries: China, South Korea, UAE, India, Mongolia, Turkey, Kyrgyzstan and others. In the medium term it is planned to enter into such agreements with Saudi Arabia, Vietnam, Brazil, Malaysia, and Pakistan.
