Kazakhstan’s President Nursultan Nazarbayev has urged Kazakhstan’s citizens to work more efficiently, Tengrinews reports.
“In today’s market, we cannot live like bears, who sleep in winter, awake in spring and then work. We need to work every day both in winter and in summer. No one will treat us indulgently in the competitive world. I will put it straight, today it is not enough to work hard, we also need to work efficiently,” Nazarbayev said at the youth forum that took place in Astana on April 10.
Once a country ceases to develop, the competitors immediately block out the oxygen and the country rolls back, the Kazakh leader said. “Unfortunately, history knows either those who win or those who lose. The life is the same. Therefore, the state has created all the necessary conditions for your development and even more than that. We have been developing the industry, because the main task of the state is to create jobs. A person is responsible for the rest. We build roads, power lines, develop agriculture, education and healthcare. The doors are open in science. We cannot be one of the 30 most developed nations without innovations and science. This is why young people, especially those apt for science, should create innovations in Kazakhstan,” Nazarbayev continued.
Nazarbayev also mentioned the problems of dependency and infantilism. “Like in old times, people often do nothing and then demand an increase in wages that does not correspond to their contribution. This all gives rise to infantilism and dependency. This is when adults behave like children. They hope someone else will solve their problems, give them everything just for nothing, and bring their favorite toys at their first wimps. Adult life is not like this. In the global market, there is no place for infantilism and easy money. I will say it again: the duty of the state is to create jobs. (…) The person should be able to earn the rest,” Kazakhstan’s President said.
The youth forum was held on April 10 in the Palace of Independence in Astana. Around 2,000 young people from different parts of Kazakhstan, including the members of the Zhas Otan youth wing of Kazakhstan’s ruling Nur Otan party, young deputies of regional maslikhats (local governments), young entrepreneurs, scientists, famous Kazakhstani athletes and leaders of Kazakhstan’s largest youth organizations, attended the event.
Chairman of Zhas Otan youth wing Nurlan Sydykov, executive director of the Alliance of Students of Aktau Gulmira Burkhandinova, prominent Bolashak program graduate Arman Suleimenov, Kazakh popular singer Zhanar Dugalova and Sochi Olympic bronze medal winner Denis Ten delivered speeches.
