Turkish businessmen interested in Kazakh market – TUSKON Chairman
October 23. KAZINFORM. ISTANBUL
Within the framework of Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev’s official visit to Turkey the Kazakh-Turkish business forum will be opened in Istanbul.
As the Confederation of Businessmen and Industrialists TUSKON informed, 1.700 Turkish businessmen are interested in the forum. 105 people are in the structure of our delegation. Within the framework of the business forum a number of bilateral meetings of businessmen will be carried out.
TUSKON Chairman R?zanur Meral told about the Turkish interest in our market and what the Turkish business expects from Kazakhstan in an interview.
“I visited Kazakhstan for the first time in 1993, when the GDP per capita in this country made up only USD 700, there was huge inflation. Today the GDP grew up to USD 8.000.
Turkey and Kazakhstan are connected not only by economic ties, but community of languages, cultures and history. We are proud of Kazakhstan’s success. The next year your country will chair the OSCE, and in 2011 – the OIC. We consider the Kazakh President’s visit and his speech in the Grand National Assembly (Parliament) to be historical. The two countries presidents said that the business has political will for development; all depends on our entrepreneurial initiative.
At present our bilateral trade turnover makes up USD 3 bln. We think that this is not enough. In the next year the heads of the states plan to increase this volume to USD 5 bln, in the future – to USD 10 bln.
The last year the Turkish small and medium business exported production amounting to USD 132 bln to different countries. We want to transfer the Turkish experience to Kazakhstan, because small and medium business is being of economy of any state.
Today the businessmen will discuss the issues of cooperation in the sphere of food, agroindustrial complex, textile industry, car manufacturing, pharmacy, construction materials, energy, and packaging technologies. We want to open production of construction materials in Kazakhstan. We see that this sector is important for Kazakhstan. Kazakhstan jointly with Russia and Belarus plans to create the Customs Union and it expands the market. We want to consider the issues on opening of a textile plant in the south of Kazakhstan.
Today N.Nazarbayev visited Ankara’s industrial area. Turkey has 120 such areas, where the state creates conditions for business. If Kazakhstan has such area, the business will go on.
When we prepared for the forum, we did not expect so many participants from our side. Because of it we want to hold similar forum in Kazakhstan”.
