Germany is the main partner of Kazakhstan in Europe - Nursultan NazarbayevDuring the meeting the sides discussed the issues of further strengthening of cooperation in trade, economic, investment and fuel and energy sectors.

Nursultan Nazarbayev met with Federal Foreign Minister of Germany Frank-Walter Steinmeier, reports with reference to the press service of Akorda.

Kazakh President noted fruitful talks with German Chancellor Angela Merkel, held last month in Milan.

“We once again “synchronized watches” on all items of our cooperation and noted the high level of cooperation and its dynamic development. We think your country is the main partner of Kazakhstan in Europe and are ready to continue to work in all possible directions,” – said the head of state.

In turn, Frank-Walter Steinmeier expressed his gratitude for the meeting, saying that this is his third visit to Kazakhstan as Minister of Foreign Affairs of Germany.

“We have a lot of topics to discuss. The situation in the world is complicated, but still there are wonderful moments that we should not get round. Thus, yesterday Germany marks the 25th anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall,” – said during the meeting the Federal German Foreign Minister.

The parties also drew attention to a number of promising areas that could give new impetus to the development of bilateral cooperation.

Nursultan Nazarbayev will receive German Foreign Minister

The announcement of upcoming events with participation of the Head of State.

President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev today will receive Federal Foreign Minister of Germany Frank-Walter Steinmeier, reports with reference to the press service of Akorda.

According to the press service of the President of Kazakhstan, November 11 the Head of State will take part in the enlarged meeting of the Political Council of the party “Nur Otan”, during which they plan to consider the progress of the election platform of the party and also discuss the program of combating corruption in 2015-2025.

November 12 in Astana, Kazakh President will meet with Prime Minister of Georgia Irakli Garibashvili.

November 14 President Nursultan Nazarbayev is expected to attend the opening of a new  military town of the National Guard, the modern infrastructure of which allow to qualitatively perform combat tasks for the protection of public safety and order in Astana.

Angela Merkel officially invited to EXPO-2017 event in Astana


Chancellor of Germany Angela Merkel has been officially invited to attend the International specialized EXPO-2017 event in Astana.

This was announced at a press conference following negotiations between Foreign Affairs Minister of Kazakhstan Erlan Idrissov and his German counterpart Frank-Walter Steinmeier in Astana on Monday.

Minister Idrissov noted that Germany is one of the key partners of Kazakhstan in Europe and in the world. “Recent years were quite eventful and effective in terms of reciprocal visits, contacts between our ministries and business circles,” he said.

During the meeting, E.Idrissov told his German colleague about the preparations for the International specialized EXPO-2017 event in Kazakhstan’s capital and handed a letter from President Nursultan Nazarbayev to German Chancellor Angela Merkel with the official invitation to attend the exhibition. He also noted that Germany was one of the first countries to confirm participation in the grandiose event.

Earlier it was reported that Mr. Steinmeier is on official visit to Kazakhstan.

German FM unveils exhibition to mark 25th anniversary of fall of Berlin Wall in Astana


Foreign Affairs Minister of Germany Frank-Walter Steinmeier unveiled in Astana an exhibition themed “Dictatorship and democracy in the age of extremities: a focus on European history in the XX century” in Astana on the day of the 25th anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall.

The exhibition showcased around the world highlights the events occurred in Europe in the 20th century as dramatic history between freedom and tyranny, democracy and dictatorship, the German Embassy’s official Facebook Page reads.

It presents a large number of photographs from European archives. It marks the conjunction of a number of anniversaries in 2014 which illustrate how closely intertwined national histories were in the “century of extremes”: 100 years ago, World War I broke out; 75 years ago, Germany unleashed the Second World War; 25 years ago, the peaceful revolutions took place; and finally, 10 years ago, the EU saw its eastward enlargement.

The exhibition will run until November 16 at the National Library of Kazakhstan. Admisison is free.

Deutsche Bank will allocate about $ 400mn to support Kazakhstani farmers

Astana is currently hosting 7th meeting of Kazakh-German Business Council.

In the frames of cooperation with the KazAgro National Holding, the Deutsche Bank allocates about $ 400mn, that will be distributed among Kazakhstan’s agribusinesses, reports from the 7th session of Kazakh-German Business Council for strategic cooperation.

As the CEO of Baiterek holding Kuandyk Bishimbayev said, during the meeting with the Prime Minister today, Mr. Peter Tils- Executive Director of the Deutsche Bank for Central and Eastern Europe mentioned that they are drawing for KazAgro about $ 400mn, which will be distributed to businesses, producing agricultural products.

Baiterek supports this project, attaching special importance to cooperation with German companies, he added.

Peter Tils in turn, noted that the foreign investors operating or wishing to enter Kazakhstan market, expect more cooperation.

Germany is interested in Kazakhstan minefields

German Geological Service has surveyed 50 minefields in our country.

German geologists took interest in 15 mining deposits, for the development of which they want to attract their country’s investors, reports citing Deputy Minister for Investment and Development Albert Rau.

15 promising fields were selected, mainly of rare earth metals, and we are awaiting continuation of the dialogue with the German business,  the Deputy Minister for Investment and Development of Kazakhstan told the 7th meeting of the Kazakh-German Business Council in Astana.

According to the RK Investments and Development minister Aset Isekeshev, over the last 3 years Kazakhstan and Germany have signed 72 trade and investment agreements totaling € 4 billion and implemented 12 investment projects worth around € 700 million.

German businessmen are urged to invest in Kazakhstan economy

Over the past 3 years, Kazakhstan and Germany have implemented 12 joint investment projects the sum of 700 million euro.

CEO of the Baiterek holding Kuandyk Bishimbayev invited German businessmen for a part in the economy diversification and industrialization program in Kazakhstan, reports.

“Currently, 4 projects are pending in the Development Bank of Kazakhstan (DBK), one of which is already at the financing stage. The Fund Damu is working with the German society for Cooperation (GIZ), as part of the Business Communication project under the Business Road Map-2020”, Bishimbayev told the seventh meeting of the Kazakh-German business Council for strategic cooperation.

The Minister for Investment and Development Asset Issekeshev added that the economic cooperation between the two countries has a stable growth dynamics. In the last 3 years alone, 72 investment and trade agreements were signed between the two countries totaling $ 4 billion Euro. Already 12 investment projects have been implemented worth about 700mn Euro.

Over the last 10 years, Kazakhstan has attracted more than $ 196 billion direct investments, and in the global Competitiveness Index of the World economic Forum, the country is 22nd on the investors’ protection indicator, the minister said.
