Current RK-EU visa regime does not meet modern reality – Idrissov

October 14 Kazakhstan FM E.Idrisov held talks with managing director for Europe and Central Asia, European External Action Service, Luis de la Peña.
Kazakhstan FM said at the meeting that the current visa regime between Kazakhstan and the European Union does not meet modern requirements, Kazpravda.kz reports with reference to the Foreign Ministry’s press service.
The parties noted a growing number of mutual trips of Kazakhstan and EU citizens, discussed the prospects of facilitating the visa regime, which will also contribute to the intensification and deepening of political, economic and cultural-humanitarian dialogue between Kazakhstan and the European Union.
The main focus of the talks was the outcome of Nursultan Nazarbayev’s visit to Brussels on 8-9 October, during which the policy statements were signed on completion of negotiations on concluding a new partnership agreement between Kazakhstan and the EU and on finalization of negotiations with the EU in the framework of joining WTO.
During the talks, the parties discussed the situation and prospects of bilateral cooperation in economy, energy, security and withdrawal of Kazakhstan air companies from the EU restriction lists, and exchanged views on topical issues of the international agenda.
With regard to cooperation in the CA-EU format, the minister said that Kazakhstan is interested in a successful implementation of the EU Strategy for Central Asia and supports the initiative of the EU on High-level Dialogue on security (CA- EU).
