Rafael Nadal gave his racket as a gift to the President of KazakhstanNursultan Nazarbayev visited the exhibition match in tennis between Rafael Nadal and Jo-Wilfried Tsonga.

Before the match, the Head of State met with the famous tennis players, during which he noted the importance of their arrival in Kazakhstan for further development of tennis in our country, reports Kazpravda.kz with reference to the press service of Akorda.

“This is a great event for young sportsmen of Kazakhstan. You provide them the opportunity to play with you, which is a significant incentive for them. Also you could see our country and visit the iconic objects of the capital”, – said the President of Kazakhstan. Nursultan Nazarbayev stressed that our country that previously had no tennis traditions, carries out a serious work on the cultivation of this sport.

In turn, the tennis players thanked the President for the invitation, noting that it was great honor for them to come to Kazakhstan. They expressed hope that their visit and the match will raise interest in tennis in our country. At the end of the meeting R.Nadal gave his racket as a gift to the Head of state.

During their visit, Rafael Nadal and Jo-Wilfried Tsonga held a master class for young Kazakhstani tennis players – students of the Academy “Team Kazakhstan” and also visited a number of attractions in Astana.

Rafael Nadal is a Spanish tennis player, winner of 14 Grand Slam tournaments, the Olympic champion of 2008 in singles, winner of the “Golden Slam” and three Davis Cups in the team of   Spain.

Jo-Wilfried Tsonga is a French tennis player, winner of 15 tournaments ATP, Silver medalist at the 2012 Olympics in the men’s doubles, winner of the Hopman Cup in 2014 in the national team of France.
