RK Government approved the preferential fixed tariffs on electricity generated by solar and wind energy sources, said Nurlan Kapparov at a 13 June press conference in Astana.
Kazakhstan is consistent in its aims and first of all it is related to the new trend in politics – the development of “green” economy. As known, it was decided that by 2020 the share of renewable energy sources (RES) in the total energy of the country must reach 3%.
According to Minister of Environment and Water Resources Nurlan Kapparov, to achieve the goal it was expedient to make changes in the legislation and study the experience of European countries.
– After that we calculated fixed tariffs, which provide the creation of RES market in the republic. In late May, the Government approved these tariffs for electricity generated by renewable energy sources, – said the Minister.
Thus, the electricity tariff for wind power plants is set at 22.68 KZT / kWh; for solar power – 34.61 KZT / kWh; for small hydro power stations – 16.71 KZT / kWh; for biogas plants – 32.23 tenge per 1 kW / h.
In addition, in order to support domestic producers, they set the fixed tariff for electricity generated by solar power plants which use photovoltaic modules based on domestic silicon at 70 tenge per kW / h at the power generation of up to 37 MW.
– The duration of fixed tariffs is 5 years. We also introduce an annual tariff indexation for inflation. This is a serious support for those investors who intend to invest in the production of energy from renewable energy sources, – added Kapparov.
The Government has determined a single buyer of electricity – a subsidiary of the JSC Kazakhstan Electricity Grid Operating Company (KEGOC).
In addition, the government will subsidize 50% of the costs to owners of remote households, who wish to install renewable energy sources with the power of 5 kW. In short, the adopted system of RES support is aimed at reducing the risk not only of producers of such energy, but also consumers.
At the press conference, the Minister also made a talk on the planting and landscaping of the vast territory of the country. As of today, the total area of spring tree planting works is 34 thousand hectares; the construction of the forest seed complex, which will be growing planting material is under completion in the state forest nature reserve Semei Ormany.
The ministry also continued educational work among the population. Thus this spring as part of the Earth Day more than 200 thousand people throughout Kazakhstan took part in the action on forest planting during which about 700 thousand saplings were planted.
Kapparov also answered the journalists’ questions about the work on the preservation and increase of saiga population.
He said the spring counting found that the number of animals in comparison with last year increased by almost 40%, to 256 thousand.
