Folk festivals to be held on “Kazakh Eli” square on May 1In order to celebrate the People’s Unity Day of Kazakhstan, a lot of festive events have been prepared for residents and guests of the capital: colorful festivals, concerts with the participation of national pop stars and on-stage performance groups of Astana.

Sport competitions, various expositions and fairs will present festive mood to citizens. The square near “Kazakh Eli” monument will again become the epicenter of the celebration in the capital. This information was given to by the metropolitan Culture department.

Festive arrangements will be held on 3 stages in front of “Kazakh Eli” monument. So, more than 700 performers will appear on the main stage from 11.00 to 14.00. The festive show on the main stage includes 5 main performances: “The Dance of the People of Kazakhstan”, Ethnic A cappella performance “The Voice of Kazakhstan”, “The Motherland sounds this way”, “Future of Kazakhstan”, and “The hymn of the People’s Unity Day of Kazakhstan 2014”. Spectators will see mastery of Kazakhstan’s leading dance ensembles, such as “Naz” state dance theatre, “Flash” show ballet from Ust-Kamenogorsk, Karaganda dance ensemble “Iskorka”, dance ensemble “Shamsinur” and “Aigolek” from Shymkent city; there will also be ensembles from CIS countries: dance ensemble “Vainah” (Chechen Republic), Omsk State dance and song ensemble, Georgian national choir of Tbilisi, Turkish national choir of Ankara. Along with that the concert will involve soloists from countries of far abroad and Kazakhstan – Zither (Germany), Madan Oak (India), Chzhu (China), and Korlan Kartenbayeva (Kazakhstan). The program will continue with a festive concert with the participation of national pop stars, such famous Kazakhstani bands and performers as the band of Ardak Balazhanov, “Alash uly” band, Indira Rasylkhan, “Yalla” band (Uzbekistan), Kazakh choir and KazNUA soloists.

Concerning the small stage, concert programs here will be presented by ethnocultural associations of the capital from 10.00 to 17.00, the program involves over 400 performers and 23 ethnocultural associations.

There will also be areas for sport competitions, where people will compete in tug of war, arm wrestling, kettlebell lifting, togyzkumalak and other sports; and 15 tents will be install for food products trading. Besides, metropolitan restaurants will organize catering for guests of the celebration, including national dishes of different nationalities.

It’s anticipated that the festive arrangements on the main square of Astana will be attended by over 100 000 people.
