Kazakhstan population amounted to 17 207 000 - StatisticsThe population of Kazakhstan as of March 1 of the current year amounted to 17 207 thousand people, this has been reported today by the chairman of the Statistics Agency Alikhan Smailov.

“Over the past 12 months the population grew by 1.5 %, or 253,000 people”, said A. Smailov.

In general, according to statistical data, in January-February 2014, the agency registered 64,000 births, which is 2.9 % less than in the same period of the last year.

At the same time the number of deaths amounted to 22,000 people, which is 8.8 % less than in January-February last year.

Trade turnover b/w Kazakhstan and CU states increased by 88%

Over five years, the turnover of Kazakhstan with Customs Union countries increased by 88%, said the chairman of the Statistics Agency Alikhan Smailov.

“Kazakhstan jointed the Customs Union in July 2010. The main result of the work over the past five years is the increase of mutual trade turnover by 88%”, said A. Smailov.

According to his words, export to the CU states grew by 63% and import increased by 98 %”, concluded the head of the statistics agency.

Kazakhstan’s GDP grows rate reaches 2.9 percent in Jan. -March

The GDP growth hit 2.9 percent in Kazakhstan in the first quarter of 2014, Novosti-Kazakhstan reported on April 15.

“GDP grew by 2.9 percent in January-March according to the forecasts,” Kazakhstan Statistics Agency’s head Alikhan Smailov said at a briefing.

The GDP growth rate amounted to six percent in Kazakhstan in 2013, GDP per capita in amounted to $13,000 which is 6.7 percent higher than in 2012.

The highest growth in 2013 was observed in the spheres of information and communication (14 percent), trade (12.7 percent), transport and warehousing (7.5 percent). The production growth in industry amounted to 2.3 percent. The highest rates were observed in the manufacturing industry with the growth of 14.6 percent which provided some 88 percent of growth of Kazakhstan’s whole manufacturing industry.

The growth of agriculture amounted to 110.8 percent against the background of high crop yield in 2013.

Inflation reached 4.8 percent in 2013 in Kazakhstan.

Earlier Kazakh Government forecasted the country’s real GDP growth at 6 percent in 2014.
