Region rich in mineral resources and attractive for investment

Karaganda region takes 1st place in the country in labor productivity.
– According to the results of 2013 the volume of industrial production reached 1.4 trillion tenge, and the index exceeded 102% in comparison with the previous year, – commented on the figures head of department of industry, innovation and industrial development Tolegen Igembaev. – Our enterprises are leading in the labor productivity in the country, having the figure of 94,000 dollars per person.
To be among the top 30 countries in the world, labor productivity in Kazakhstan should be raised to 126 thousand dollars. The largest in the republic on the territory oblast, industrial index of which is 7.7% of the republican volume is based primarily on mining and metallurgical complex. Represented by such giants as JSC ArselorMittalTemirtau, LLP Corporation Kazakhmys, LLP ENRC Kazakhstan, the industry is developing dynamically and is part of the cluster Metallurgy -metalworking.
The key areas of the cluster within the state program of accelerated industrial-innovative development are mining and metallurgical complex, mechanical engineering, construction industry, chemical industry, production of pharmaceuticals and agribusiness. The growth of local content in the procurements of goods, works and services of the region last year reached 221.5 billion tenge. Investors contributed 101 billion tenge in the manufacturing fixed capital.
A powerful industrial center, acting in accordance with the program set in the President’s state of the national address strives for improving the efficiency of traditional mining sector, which is required for the entry into the top 30 states. Almost one-third of the republican resources of coal and 100% of coking coal are concentrated in the oblast.
The wealth of mineral resources base – copper and tungsten, large deposits of coal, lead, zinc, iron, manganese, rare metals, carries great opportunities for the oblast. All this determines the access to the global market and attracts investments of foreign engineering companies. Over 25.1 billion tenge was allotted from the national budget in the framework of an integrated plan for socioeconomic development of the Zhezkazgan region for exploration and research works.
Karaganda oblast is also leading in terms of construction projects in a special economic zone. This year three projects are planned for commissioning: LLP Izoplyus Central Asia, LLP Henvu Central Asia and LLP Boehmer Valves. Four projects worth 300 billion tenge are included in the republican map of industrialization. Six thousand employees will be required for the creation of infrastructure in the Industrial Park, the plant of complex alloys, an enterprise of coal products and an opencast coal mine, development and modernization of ArselorMittalTemirtau with an increase of production capacity to 6 million tons of steel per year.
The oblast’s industrialization Map includes 80 projects worth 475 billion tenge, with the creation of 12 thousand jobs.
Thanks to the rich mineral complex and advanced scientific basis the region remains attractive for investors.
