Sochi 2014: Kazakhstan's Aidova is 19th in women's' 1000 m race22-year-old Kazakhstan’s ice skater Yekaterina Aidova took the 19th place in the women’s 1 000 race at the XXII Winter Olympic Games in Sochi, our correspondent reports.

She clocked 1:17.25 just 3.23 seconds lagging behind the winner.

Kazakhstan’s biathletes finished their performance in men’s 20 km individual at the XXII Winter Olympic Games in Sochi, our correspondent reports.

Yan Savitskyi showed the best result among our sportsmen clocking 52 minutes. He secured the 20th place, 2: 24.1 lagging behind the winner, Martin Fourcade of France.  Erik Lesser of Germany grabbed silver, Russia’s Evgeniy Garanichev win bronze.

Sochi 2014: Denis Ten is 9th in short program

Kazakhstan figure skaters Denis Ten and Abzal Rakimgaliyev demonstrated their short programs at the XXII Winter Olympics in Sochi, our correspondent reports.

Denis performed 26th and secured the 9th place with 84.06 points. They both are qualified to show their free programs Feb 14 at 21:00 by Astana time.

Japanese figure skater Yuzuru Hanyu won first place in men’s short program. Hanyu has set a new world record, gaining 101.45 points.

Sochi 2014: Kazakh skier Zakurdaev 37th in super combined after downhill

Kazakhstani alpine skier Igor Zakurdaev showed the 37th result in the first part of Men’s Super Combined Alpine Skiing program. Another skier from Kazakhstan Martin Khuber came 42nd.

With the result of 1:53.24, Norwegian skier Kjetil Jansrud is leading in super combined after downhill. Snapping at his heels are Czech Ondrej Bank and Austrian Matthias Mayer.

The second part of Men’s Super Combined, Slalom, is set to be held later today.

Kazakhstan’s Poltorarin disappoints in 15km classic sprint in Sochi

Alexey Poltoranin missed a chance to win Olympic medal in the Men’s 15km sprint at the Laura Cross-country Ski & Biathlon Center at the XXII Winter Olympic Games in Sochi.

His 39:43.2 result did not allow him to reach top 6 in the sprint event.

Other Kazakhstan’s athletes Nikolay Chebotko, Yevgeniy Velichko and Yerdos Akhmadiyev covered the distance in 41:14.1, 41:16.4, and 43:02.2 respectively.

Sochi 2014: Zakurdaev, Khuber of Kazakhstan complete Men’s super combined

Igor Zakurdaev and Martin Khuber from Kazakhstan have completed their performance in Men’s alpine skiing super combined, slalom, at the XXII Winter Olympic Games in Sochi, Kazinform correspdoent reports.

Out of 46 athletes, Zakurdaev and Khuber finished 27th and 34th. 11 athletes failed to finish at all.

Kazakhstan men’s short track team crashes into the finals of 5000 m relay

Kazakhstan’s short track team crashed into the final of the men’s 5000 m relay, our corespondent reports.

The Netherlands team was the first. The Kazakh team debuted at Sochi came the second, followed by Korea and the US. The final is set for Feb 21 at the Iceberg Palace.
