Almaty Mayor meets members of Communist Party of ChinaAlmaty Mayor Akhmetzhan Yessimov has met with the members of the delegation of the Communist Party of China, which arrived in Kazakhstan for the 5th General Assembly of the International Conference of Asian Political Parties.

“We know that Almaty plays an important role in the social-economic development of the state and has close ties with a lot of cities of China. It is a great pleasure and honor for me to meet and thank you for the contribution, which makes the Kazakh side in development of the Kazakh-Chinese relations”, head of the delegation, Secretary of the CPC Shanghai Municipal Committee and Member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee Yu Zhengsheng noted.

A.Yessimov, in his turn, noted that China is one of the main trade partners of Kazakhstan. Last year the foreign trade turnover made up about USD 3.177 mln, over January-July, 2009 – about USD 1.707 mln. At present 73 current joint Kazakh-Chinese enterprises and 306 Chinese enterprises are registered in Almaty.

The Almaty Mayor informed the guests of preparation for holding VII Asian Winter Games 2011, reconstruction of sport facilities and invited the Chinese colleagues to visit Almaty and its major sights after repairs completion. The head of the Chinese delegation invited administration of Almaty city to Expo-2010 exhibition, which will be held in Shanghai next year.
