Steppe Cement’s revenue increased in 3Q13Kazakhstan’s Steppe Cement has released its results for 3Q13. Revenue increased from KZT7.233 billion in 3Q12 to KZT7.235 billion in the corresponding period this year. Sales volumes were down 3% y/y to 501 412 t, but volume levels are predicted to improve in 4Q13.

In January – September 2013, revenue rose to KZT15.399 billion, while sales volumes declined by 6% y/y to 1.07 million t. During the period, Steppe Cement held a 16% share of the market, compared to 20% in January – September 2012. The cement producer expects its market share to improve to 17% for FY13 and recover further in 2014.

In the first nine months of this year, Kazakhstan’s cement industry grew 14% y/y, with imports rising to represent 19% of total consumption, up from 14%.

Meanwhile, the company is on track with upgrade work to its line 5. Commissioning for the limestone crusher, kiln, cooler and preheater takes place this month and commissioning of the raw and coal mills will occur in November.
