Kazakhstan opens ArgentinaIn the frames of the ongoing tour to South America, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan Erlan Idrissov visited Buenos-Aires. That is the first official visit of the Kazakh FM to Argentina.

Argentina is a large economy in the region, the member of the G20. The country is actively developing an applied science, providing various industries with the advanced technologies — from the nuclear industry and space to energy and agriculture.

In Buenos Aires, the head of the Kazakhstan Ministry of Foreign Affairs met with the Argentine businessmen to discuss a wide range of issues. The possibility of technology exchange in natural gas processing and O&G cooperation were considered at the meeting with the leadership of the National Argentine Company YPF. Representatives of Argentina Petroleum Council, the organization, representing the interests of the national industry have expressed interest in cooperation with Kazakhstan at the global level.

Outlook for bilateral cooperation was taken up at the meeting with the members of the Argentine Meat Association. This country is a global leader in beef production and agricultural research institutions of Argentina are ready to share the latest scientific developments in this area with their Kazakh counterparts.

Bilateral cooperation and international policy were covered at the meeting of the RK FM with his Argentine counterpart Hector Timerman. The two ministers agreed to boost bilateral cooperation by signing of an agreement on launching of political consultations and elimination of visa regimes for official delegations. It was also agreed to elaborate an agreement on elimination of visa regime between the two states and to sign it during Hector Timerman’s visit to Astana, scheduled for 2014, at the invitation of Kazakhstan Foreign Minister.

Kazakh FM also held talks with the Senate speaker — Vice President Jorge Dominguez and the chairman of the Chamber of Deputies Amado Boudou. The Argentine MPs called for closer contacts between the two Parliaments and invited their Kazakh counterparts to visit Buenos-Aires and expressed interest in visiting Astana.

The Argentine side is interested in Kazakhstan as a regional leader and a responsible player at the international arena. Argentina considers Kazakhstan as a partner for mutually beneficial cooperation.
