R.Hoagland: Kazakhstan has great potential in sulfur management

The 2nd international Sulfur Management Conference has been held today it the Independence Palace within the Kazakhstan Energy Week. The organizers of the Conference are “KazEnergy” Association, the Embassies of the U.S.A, Canada and Great Britain, “Shell” and “TengizChevrOil” companies.
Representatives of the Ministries and Departments of Kazakhstan, Heads of the diplomatic missions of the USA, Canada and Great Britain in our country, members of big oil-and-gas companies, representatives of international expert and scientific community took part in the Conference.
The main theme of the discussion was the issues of legal control over the process of sulfur management, international experience in sulphuretted hydrogen production and its usage in the industry. As the participants of the Week noted, the issue is very important for Kazakhstan taking into account such fact that the development of such big deposits as Kashagan and Tengiz is accompanied by great sulfur emissions.
USA Ambassador Richard Hoagland in his speech stressed the importance of the issues of effective sulfur management for Kazakhstan. According to him, our country has significant potential and prospects in this field.
“From my visits to Tengiz, my meetings with TCO management and the Akimat in Atyrau, I know that TCO has a world-class sulfur management system”, the American Diplomat said.
British Ambassador considers that Kazakhstan and Great Britain are strategic partners in the field of absorption of energy resources. “Kazakhstan is very important for us. Our country has experience and professionalism in the development of technologies of oil and gas”, he said.
The Head of the British diplomatic mission noted that foreign companies discuss a project on establishment of a production on sulfur handling in Kazakhstan.
Canadian Ambassador to Kazakhstan Margaret Skok called for our countries to address the issue of sulfur handling together. “We have necessary innovations and technologies. Besides, the extraction of energy resources becomes one of the global issues”, M.Skok said.
