To the sounds of Stradivarius violin

The National Orchestra of Lille, France, conducted by Jean -Claude Casadesus played in Almaty and Astana.
The concerts of the orchestra were arranged by the French Embassy in Kazakhstan and the TOTAL E & P Kazakhstan company.
To the French Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Kazakhstan Jean-Charles Berthonnet, a native of Lille, the arrival of this orchestra is a special event.
Vice -Minister of Foreign Affairs Alexei Volkov , Brendan McMahon , CEO of Total E & P Kazakhstan, which marks the 20th anniversary of its presence in the country talked of friendship and mutually beneficial cooperation between Kazakhstan and France. Greetings from Yamina Benguigui, Minister for la Francophonie in the French Government was read out. A delegation, led by Daniel Percheron , President of the Regional Council of Nord Pas- de — Calais, as well as French media came over to support the French musicians. They were interested in the cultural life of Astana, musical life, architecture and sights of the capital.
The National Orchestra of Lille was formed in 1976 and over this time has become a hallmark of the region and the French culture in general. They have performed in more than thirty countries on four continents.
At the press conference, the maestro Casadesus appreciated Kazakhstan’s hospitality, the music hall «Kazakhstan» and commented on the concert program.
– We start with the overture to the opera “Oberon”, in which the king of fairies Oberon is master of winds. In the Kazakh steppe there are enough winds, — he said.
The orchestra and guest artist Alena Bayeva performed the Concerto for Violin and Orchestra by Tchaikovsky. Now Alena, who started her professional training in Almaty and plays Stradivarius violin was much cheered by the audience. Pieces from the famous “Carmen Suite” by Bizet and “The Firebird” by Igor Stravinsky were also brilliantly performed.
The musicians were rewarded by ovations and baskets of flowers. The French season in Kazakhstan is open, and we are in for other performances.
