Kazakh delegation to take part in summits of UN General Assembly

The UN General Assembly has opened its 64th session at the UN headquarters in New York. The Kazakh delegation headed by Secretary of State – Minister of Foreign Affairs Kanat Saudabayev is taking part in it; Kazinform refers to the Kazakh MFA’s press service.
The issues on the global economic problems, struggle against terrorism, ensuring peace and security, protection of human rights and environment are on the agenda of the session.
Two summits will be held within the framework of the General Assembly’s work: the Summit of Climate Change under the chairmanship of Secretary General Ban Ki-moon on September 22; the Summit of the UN Security Council on the issues of nuclear disarmament and non-proliferation under the chairmanship of US President Barack Obama on September 24.
The head of the Kazakh delegation will take part in the general debate; make a speech at the conference on Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty and Annual Coordination Meeting of the OIC Foreign Ministers.
Besides, Mr. Saudabayev is planned to participate in the meeting on “Partnership for Peace Safety”, CSTO ministerial session and a meeting of foreign ministers in the format of the Central Asian, Baltic and Nordic states.
