Kazakh canoeist wins rowing championship in Canada

Sergei Emelyanov, a canoeist from Kazakhstan, has become the first at the world championship in rowing and canoeing held in Canada.
From 1 to 4 August in the Canadian city of Weiland the world championship in rowing and canoeing among juniors to 23 years took place. This was the first world contest in this age group. Sergei Emelyanov showed the fastest time 3:55 at a distance of 1000 meters beating Christophe Coutu from Hungary and Pavlo Altukhova from Ukraine.
In addition owing to the competition results Sergei Emelyanov and Ekaterina Kaltenberger have received licenses to participate in the Youth Olympic Games in 2014.
