Astana declares determination to host World Petroleum Congress in 2017

Kazakhstan’s application to hold XXII Petroleum Congress in 2017 in Astana was presented at the Kazakh Embassy in Russia.
Consultant of the Kazakh National Committee of the World Petroleum Congress Ardych Durdu informed of Astana’s readiness to host the event at the highest level.
“The key advantage of Kazakhstan is its geographical situation – at the Europe and Asia crossroad, and of course its position in the global oil and gas sector. Kazakhstan is a new and very strong player. The country has developed infrastructure, in particular, it concerns production, storage and transportation of hydrocarbons. I suppose Kazakhstan will be a worthy partner in the globalm oil market,” A. Durdu said.
The World Petroleum Council (WPC) is an oil and gas industry forum and international organization representing the petroleum sector worldwide.
WPC has been called “the world’s premier oil & gas forum since 1933. It is widely recognised to “include the most prestigious national oil and gas companies and agencies of the world.
“Participantion of Kazakhstan in the WPC will allow to strengthen country’s positions in the energy sector,” Ardych Durdu added.
Besides, according to the Consultant of the Kazakh National Committee of World Petroleum Congress, Kazakhstan will have a chance to present its own ways of effective use of traditional energy sources.
In addition to Astana’s bid to host the XXI World Petroleum Congress Houston (USA), Istanbul (Turkey) and Copenhagen (Denmark) submitted their applications. The decision on the venue of the summit will be taken by secret ballot at a meeting of the World Petroleum Council in Calgary in October this year.
The presentation was organized by the Embassy of Kazakhstan in Russia together with the Kazakhstan Association of Oil-Gas and Energy Sector «Kazenergy».
