Astana hosted a meeting of the Kazakh-German Business Council for Strategic Cooperation.
The Business Council is co-chaired by Kazakhstan’s head of the NECK “Atameken” presidium and of KAZENERGY association Timur Kulibayev and German’s Chief Executive Officer of Deutsche Bank AG for Central and Eastern Europe Peter Tils.
T. Kulibayev emphasized the importance of this cooperation, adding that Kazakhstan is implementing the state program for accelerated industrial development with the active participation of German companies.
– EXPO 2017 – “Energy of the Future” is ahead and the German side is a world leader in renewable energy and energy efficiency. A number of joint projects is under implementation and we look forward to a successful partnership, – said T. Kulibayev.
Fulfillment of the 19 joint projects in the frames of the Intergovernmental Agreement on Partnership in raw, industrial and technological areas was taken up, including such projects as construction of a complex alloys factory in Karaganda, production of industrial gases in Atyrau, electrification of Kazakhstan railways, automation of signaling systems, production of solar elements and modules in the SEZ “PIT Alatau” in Almaty. Implementation of these projects will attract over 1.5 billion euros of German investments to Kazakhstan.
Cooperation in “green” technologies and energy efficiency in the light of EXPO-2017 in Astana was also covered there. Such companies as “Siemens AG”, “KASSIDIAN”, “PEM GmbH” made their reports on “border security” and “start-up projects in natural resources sector”.
A Memorandum of Cooperation was signed between the National ICT Holding “Zerde” and LLP “SAP Kazakhstan” for development of info-communication industry, aimed at the strengthening of mutually beneficial cooperation in the latest developments and technologies, information and resource capacities, knowledge exchange and innovative solutions.
Kazakhstan is going to cooperate with German companies in metallurgy, chemicals and pharmaceuticals areas, transport and telecommunications, engineering, and mechanical engineering.
It should be noted that Germany is one of the leading trade partners of Kazakhstan. According to Kazakhstan customs bodies, the volume of bilateral trade in 2012 is $ 2.5 billion, that is 8.7% more on-year.
