Bulegenov: Belarus-Kazakhstan business forums contribute to trade growth
June 25. BelTA. MINSK
The second Belarusian-Kazakhstani business forum is taking place in Minsk, BelTA has learnt.
According to Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Kazakhstan to Belarus Ergali Bulegenov, such business forums promote bilateral trade, which is of especial importance in the light of the instructions given by the heads of Belarus and Kazakhstan to double the trade turnover . “Such events are a contribution to the implementation of these instructions,” the Ambassador said.
According to the diplomat, $8.7 million worth of contracts were signed at the previous forum in autumn 2012. “I hope this business forum will have the same level at least. Such meetings are not a formality. They have a good ground as the agreements made at such meetings have continuation and bring results,” he noted.
In his words, there is no point in dividing the Belarusian-Kazakhstani cooperation into developed and undeveloped areas. “All the areas are open between the two countries,” he believes. Among the promising areas is cooperation in agriculture and mechanical engineering. As for the agrarian sector, Belarus’ achievements and experience are very important for Kazakhstan, the Ambassador said.
According to Ergali Bulegenov, today the two countries are implementing joint projects and developing new ones. Among those under development are projects for dairy and meat processing facilities in Kazakhstan. “The negotiations are in full swing and I think there will be results,” the Ambassador said.
In his words, the authorities of the two countries are unanimous in the need to take simple trade onto a more sophisticated level. “We have good prospects,” Ergali Bulegenov said.
The business forum is organized by the Minsk Office of the Belarusian Chamber of Commerce and Industry in cooperation with the National Export and Investment Agency Kaznex Invest of the Ministry of Industry and New Technologies of Kazakhstan. Belarusian companies are expected to hold negotiations with companies from Kazakhstan on the issues regarding investment in joint projects, cooperation in medicine, food industry, production of packing materials, fabricated rubber products, paint and coatings.

Ambassador: Kazakhstan is interested in privatization programs in Belarus
June 26. BelTA. MINSK
Kazakhstan has interest in privatization programs in Belarus, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Kazakhstan to Belarus Ergali Bulegenov said at a press conference on 26 June, BelTA has learnt.
“We have such opportunity. Kazakhstan invests in many countries. Of course, Kazakhstan has interest in privatization programs in Belarus,” Ergali Bulegenov noted.
However, the Ambassador noted that mainly private Kazakh companies are involved in this process. These companies often expect possible changes in privatization rules, which is why there have been no examples of such cooperation despite declared interest. “Nevertheless I call upon the Kazakh companies to be active in tapping into the Belarusian market because soon we will be in the single economic union,” Ergali Bulegenov underlined.
“I think that gradually by 2015 when we have created the Eurasian Economic Union and abolished exemptions and restrictions on movement of goods, services, capital and workforce, this process will gain momentum and this interest will result in specific projects. This is a matter of time,” Ergali Bulegenov noted.
